ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The national and regional tennis rankings have been released with the Ouachita Baptist University men’s team ranked fourth nationally and second in the South region.

The Tigers are one of three Gulf South Conference teams ranked inside the top 10, and one of seven South region teams in the top ten. The top spot nationally is Armstrong Atlantic, with Valdosta State second, Lynn third, Ouachita fourth, and Barry University fifth. Rounding out the final five are Hawaii Pacific, Florida Southern, Rollins, West Florida, and Columbus State.

In the South Regional Rankings, Valodsta State is first with Ouachita and Lynn (Boca Raton, FL) tied for second. Barry is fourth, followed by Florida Southern in fifth and Rollins sixth. West Florida is seventh, Eckerd (eighth), West Alabama (ninth) and Palm Beach Atlantic is 10th.

Nationally in singles ranking OBU’s place four in the top 50. Jean Charles Diame is 18, Jan Plewinski  is ranked 23, Till Heilshorn follows at 35. and Pierre Tafelski ranks 50.

With eight regions in the nation the South region dominated the national rankings placing seven teams in the top ten and eleven in the top forty-five. Nation wide there are more than two hundred NCAA division II men’s tennis teams.

The Ouachita Tigers finish up their regular season on May 6 against conference opponent Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
